The food comes from a place famously declared as paradise on earth. Hopefully, the burps will be a toast to that fact.
Ohri's is organising a Kashmiri Food Festival, from 19th to 28th February, at its restaurant on Road No. 12, Banjara Hills. Guest Chef Suman Kaul will be supervising the speciality dishes at the festival.
Kashmiri food can constitute a simple family meal, or a 36-course wedding banquet called Wazwan. As varied as it is unique, this sumptuous cuisine has many cultural roots such as Asian, Arabic and Persian, and has continuously evolved over the centuries. Instead of the traditional sweets, Sheer Chai, a bright pink beverage made with black tea, cardamom, various spices and salt, or Kahva (green tea), are taken after meals.
The buffet at Ohri's has 2 starters each for veg and non-veg, and may include Tabakh Maaz, Kokkar Kanthi, Talith Gath, Lachila Dum Paneer and Khumb Aur Dhaniya Kebab. There are 3 dishes each in the main course for veg and non-veg, including Gustaba, Marchwangan Korma, Haakh Gadh, Ruwagan Chaaman, Nadru Mond, Nadru Achar, Chamani Qaliya, Veth Chaman, Phool Gobi Yakhni and Rajma. The rice section consists of Maaz Pilao and Kashmiri Vegetable Pulao.
There will be one hot dessert and 4 cold ones to choose from among Halwa, Shufta, fruit jellies and 4 different flavours of ice-creams
The dinner buffet is priced at Rs. 349 plus taxes during week days and Rs. 299 plus taxes for lunch during weekends from Friday to Sunday, and includes a free pint of beer / mocktail, and Kahva.
