The Square, the multi-cuisine restaurant of Novotel Hyderabad, is organising a Rajasthani Food Festival, from 19th February to 7th March.
Rajasthani cuisine is predominantly vegetarian, and dazzling in its variety. In general, Rajasthani dishes are spicy and rich in flavor. Rajasthanis relish ghee, which is an integral part of many of the preparations. The most famous dish is probably dal-baati - spicy lentils with baked balls of wheat, and lots of ghee. The variety of sweet dishes is also immense, and sweets are relished as much as the spicy curries in Rajasthan. In Rajasthani customs, desserts are had before, during and after the meal.
The Square at Novotel has been decked out in Rajasthani style with vibrant colors, complete with folk music in the background, and the staff will welcome the guests in traditional Rajasthani costumes.
Authentic Rajasthani dishes like Dal-Baati, Besan-Chakki, Churma, Jhajariya, Tarfini, Bail-Gatte, Panchkoota, Chaavadi, Laapasi, Nukhti, Googri, Gatte Ki Sabzi, Dhungari Hui Chaach, Missi Roti, Jaipuri Mewa Pulao, Vegetable Khichdi and Kesar Murg are all included in the menu.
In the desserts section, Malpua, Ghevar, Balushahi, Moong Dal Halwa, Raabdi and Misri Mawa are featured. There will also be live chaat, kebab and pani-puri counters.
The dishes at the festival can be savoured for dinner only, and the buffet costs Rs. 950 plus taxes from Sunday to Friday, and Rs. 1,050 plus taxes during Saturdays. Please contact the restaurant at 6682-4422 for further details.
