Hyderabad-based artist Sajid Bin Amar is organising an exhibition of his recent woodcuts and etchings at the Shrishti Art Gallery, from 20th February to 2nd March.
His collection of wood cuts and etchings is based on modern day existence, that of familial equations, social dos and the institution of marriage.
Born in 1965, Sajid Bin Amar has a diploma in Drawing and Painting from the JNTU University, Hyderabad. He had held solo shows at the Alliance Francaise Of Hyderabad in 1999, and Pundole Art Gallery in Mumbai in 1999. He has also been part of various group shows at the Kalayatra, Bangalore; Gallery Espace, New Delhi; Fifth Biennale of Indian Contemporary Art, Bharat Bhava, Bhopal; Renaissance Gallery, Bangalore; Lakeeren Gallery, Mumbai; Apparao Galleries, Chennai; Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai; Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi; Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai; Alliance Francaise, Calcutta; and various galleries in Hyderabad.
Sajid was awarded the University Gold Medal in MFA Painting from the Hyderabad Central Univerisity in 1991, and a Junior Fellowship from the HRD Ministry, Govt. of India and Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University (Hyderabad), in 1997 & 1998.
