Torn Curtains is presenting Karaoke Killer, a supper-theatre programme, at 10 Downing Street. It is the first of its kind being staged in the city. Produced and Directed by Mala Pasha, Karaoke Killer has songs, dances and a murder, too. Where the evening gets its own twist of lime is when the audience is invited to guess who the Killer is, to which there are clues in the play itself.
During the interval after the murder, each table will have a number assigned to it. This number will correspond to one of the cast members. Each table may ask its cast member three 'yes or no' questions, to which the cast will answer truthfully. The problem is – only one of them knows who the killer is. After questioning its cast member, each table must vote for the person who they believe is guilty of murder. There is also a tie-breaker question, and at the end of the play, when the name of the killer is revealed, the winner might go home happy to have seen some good supper theatre and to have won a surprise gift.
Act 1 will last approximately 30 minutes, and following a break for the first round of free drinks, the second act will commence. Act 2 will last approximately 20 minutes, and there will be a break for another round of free drinks and voting. The final act will last approximately 5 minutes. The name (s) of the person who guesses the identity of the killer will be announced 20 - 30 minutes after the end of the play.
The cast consists of Rashmi Gupta, Anuj Gurwara, Vijay Marur, Madhu Swaminath, Deepa Joshi, Pavan Sharma, Arun Masilamoni, KJ Anand, H. Ashok Kumar, Kunal Shroff and Yolekha Mallier.
The Torn Curtains was established in 1971, and the late actor and director Ramann Rao, theatre and advertising personality Tony Mirchandani, and Mala Pasha, took the Torn Curtains to heights of popularity before the group took a small hiatus.
