The YMCA of Greater Hyderabad, Narayanaguda branch is organising the 16th Annual YMCA Tatipalli Gopalakrishna Prize Money Open Chess Championships, from 6th to 15th November, at the YMCA Narayanaguda Hall. About 1,500 players from all over the state are expected to participate in this tournament.
The tournament will be held everyday from 5pm to 7pm. Prize money worth Rs. 15,000 is up for grabs, in the order of merit, with the 1st prize winner taking Rs. 3,000, 2nd prize winner Rs. 2,000, 3rd prize winner Rs. 1,500, 4th - Rs. 1,200, 5th - Rs. 1,000, 6th - Rs. 900, 7th - Rs. 800, 8th - 700, 9th - 600, and 10th - Rs. 500. Consolation prizes of Rs. 300 each will be awarded for positions from the 11th through the 16th, and Rs. 250 each for the 17th to 20th positions.
The tournament will be conducted on a Swiss format as per latest FIDE rules with a playing session of two hours for each game, and one hour for each player under the Gulitin system. The total number of rounds will be declared after the 1st round. The registration fee is Rs. 150 per participant.
