Sri Prakhya Arts is felicitating cine director K Vishwanath with the title of Kalatapasvi Swarabhishekam, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium on 14th July.
Padmasri Kasinadhuni Viswanath, popularly known as K Viswanath, is a Telugu moviemaker whose contributions have been significant to Indian films in general and Telugu films in particular. Born in Vijayawada in 1930, he debuted as a director with Aatma Gowravam, which starred Akkineni Nageswara Rao. However, he proved his prowess in film-making with a series of alltime big hits, such as Siri Siri Muvva, Sankarabharanam, Saagara Sangamam, Swathi Mutyam, Sruthi Layalu, Sirivennela, Swarna Kamalam, Saptapadi, Aapathbaandhavudu, Subha Sankalpam and Swarabhishekam.
In all, he directed about 50 films, in both Telugu and Hindi. Swathi Muthyam was India's official entry to the Oscars in 1986. He was awarded the Padmasri by the Government of India for his contributions to Indian films, and the Raghupati Venkaiah Award by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He also won quite a few National awards.
On this occasion, there will be a Kuchipudi recital by Bindiya, Sonam, Aishwarya and Sinduja. All the dancers are disciples of Swathi Somnath. They will start the recital with a Narayana Teertha's Durga Vandanam, followed by Shivashtakam and Aigiri Nandini. The orchestra for the recital comprises Amalapuram Kanna Rao with the vocals, Swathi Somanath with the nattuvangam, Pasumarti Phanibala on the violin, Sridharachary on the mridangam and Murali on the flute.
The chief guest for the evening is Union Minister Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao. Director K Raghavendra Rao, Justice C Y Somayajulu, lyricist Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry and music director Madhavapeddi Suresh are the other guests from the tinsel world.
