Saahiti, a forum for Telugu literature and music, is presenting Sambhashana, an interactive session with Padmasri K Viswanath, on 15th December, at Saptaparni on Road No. 8 Banjara Hills. On this occasion, a music nite on K Vishwanath's hit numbers will be organised K Ramachary and group.
Kasinadhuni Viswanath, popularly known as K Viswanath, is a Telugu moviemaker whose contributions have been significant to Indian films in general and Telugu films in particular. Born in Vijayawada in 1930, he debuted as a director with Aatma Gowravam, which starred Akkineni Nageswara Rao. However, he proved his prowess in filmmaking with a series of all-time big hits such as Siri Siri Muvva, Sankarabharanam, Saagara Sangamam, Swathi Mutyam, Sruthi Layalu, Sirivennela, Swarna Kamalam, Saptapadi, Aapathbaandhavudu, Subha Sankalpam and Swarabhishekam.
In all, he directed about 50 films, in both Telugu and Hindi. Swathi Muthyam was India's official entry to the Oscars in 1986. He was awarded the Padmasri by the Government of India for his contributions to Indian films, and the Raghupati Venkaiah Award by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He also won quite a few national awards.
