The Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation is organising a live-in-conversation with Mohammad Ali Baig and the senior and renowned playwright, dialogue- and screen-writer Javed Siddiqui, as part of its Celebrating Theatre series, on 6th February, at the hotel ITC Kakatiya.
Tonite, Javed Siddiqui will participate in an interactive session with Mohammad Ali Baig, on the topic of "Power Of The Word In Theatre". Siddiqui is an Urdu and Hindi screenwriter, dialogue writer and playwright who has written over 50 storylines and screenplays. During his career, Siddiqui has collaborated with some of India's most prominent filmmakers, from independent directors like Satyajit Ray and Shyam Benegal to commercial directors like Yash Chopra and Subhash Ghai. He has become an integral part of Indian cinema, in both the commercial and the art cinema fields. He has won two Filmfare Awards, two Star Screen Awards and one BFJA Award.
He has been highly regarded for his works in different genres of film-making, including parallel cinema like Umrao Jaan, Mammo, Fiza, Zubeidaa and Tehzeeb, as well as commercial hits such as Baazigar, Darr, Yeh Dillagi, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Raja Hindustani, Pardes, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Koi Mil Gaya.
Celebrating Theatre is a series of seminars, lectures and interactive sessions, conceived and designed by Mohammad Ali Baig to inculcate theater awareness amongst the theater and arts fraternity, audiences and the media in the twin cities. This series, a part of the theater revival initiative by the Foundation, brings to Hyderabad eminent people from the world of theater and related arts to share their experiences, opinions and views. Preview presenters in the series included Habib Tanvir, M S Satyu, Mohan Maharishi, Prasanna, Jabbar Patel, Shabana Azmi and Amal Allana.
The Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation was founded by Mohammed Ali Baig, an advertising wizard, in memory of his father Quadir Ali Baig who was a doyen of Hindustani theater. It was established in an attempt at the revival of theater, which had lost its sheen. The foundation has on board danseuse Vani Ganapathy, artistes Rohini Hattangadi, Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Urmila Matondkar, lyricist Javed Akhtar and director M S Sathyu.
