Shilparamam, as part of the ongoing All India Crafts Mela from 16th to 31st December, is organising a Jaltarang recital by Nemani Somayajulu today, the 12th day. Somayajulu is a well-known mridangam, ghatam and jaltarang player. He has done his Diploma in mridangam from the M R College for Music, Viziangaram, in 1972, and has since accompanied many music vidhwans to various parts of India.
He has been into jaltarang only for the last 5 years, and is probably the only one to play the instrument for Carnatic music. He has compiled a collection of his jaltarang recitals into a CD. He has performed at USA in 2004.
