And stick to what we do best - give you a ton of unnecessary (or not unnecessary) information which you will inevitably read - because zis is like one of those things zat you just can't help. Oops, couldn't help zat either.
Alliance Francaise de Hyderabad is celebrating the International Francophonie Day for a whole week. What is Francophonie? It is an effort to promote the French language and is also the official name for the international organization that brings together the 55 States and Governments that have subscribed to its Charter. It is a body of people who the world over are working for human rights, economy, education and towards bridging cultural diversity.
So, to mark this week Alliance is organizing major events in collabortion with the Embassy of France in India, the Embassy of Romania in India, Total (a French Company), Taj Krishna and the Dept. of Toursim & Culture. The events are:
1. Le Plume d'or -
A writing competition for senior students of French. The contestants will be tested on their skills of writing prose in French on a given theme. The winner will be given a chance to visit France.

2. The Night of the 'Publivores' -
An exclusive and unpublished collection of ad films will be presented here. From the first ad film made in 1898 to the latest creation, this collection is a unique voyage into the collective memories of French-speaking people reinforced by the presence of various artists who have featured in this exceptional documentary.

3. 'Les Chaises' - a Tragic Farce -
The French-Romanian born Eugene Ionesco (1912-1944) is one of the foremost playwrights of the Theatre of the Absurd. In Les Chaises, an old couple attempt to pass on their total life experience to humanity by inviting a vast crowd of guests who never arrive but whose absence is symbolized by an increasing number of chairs…..empty chairs. This play will be presented in English by the theatre company ‘DAYA’.

4. Quiz -
A quiz, for students, connected to the Francophone world. Teams from different colleges will be competing. There are two first prizes sponsored by Taj Krishna
