The stage is set for the biggest sporting event of the year in Hyderabad, the India vs Australia one-day cricket match, on 5th October, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal. As part of the Future Cup series, Hyderabad is staging the 3rd of the 7-match series.
With the first match on 29th September at Bangalore cancelled due to rain and India losing heavily in the second match on 2nd October at Kochi, this promises to be a close one. At Hyderabad, India has a very good record, having won four of the last five matches played here. Saurav Ganguly, who was out of the last two matches due to injury, is expected to return to the team.
With the tickets sold out in 2 hours, the stadium will be splitting at its seams, and the atmosphere promises to be explosive. India is expected to field an unchanged team with only one change - Saurav in place of Powar, as Dhoni's strategy of playing two spinners backfired.
Australia have regained their lost confidence after the semifinal defeat at the hands of India in the Twenty20 World Cup. They have hit back in this longer version of the game with exceptional batting, bowling and fielding. Their captain Ricky Ponting, out of action so far with injury, is expected to play in this match.
