The Gujarat State Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation from Gandhinagar, together with the Garvi-Gurjari showroom in Sarovar Complex, is organising a Gujarat Tribal Mela, at the Zorastrian Club, from 4th to 14th October. A small exhibition with about 20 stalls, the display provides a perfect window of crafts from Saurashtra, Kutch and Central Gujarat.
Most of the exhibition comprises handlooms, including the typical ghagra-cholis, salwar-kameezs, lehangas and sleeveless tops, dupattas for kids and women, chappals and joothis, handbags, jute swings and toys. There is also a big collection of earthenware, including diyas, diya stands, flower pots and decorative flower vases. In addition, there are artificial and stone jewelry, feng-shui and vaastu products, and wooden sofas.
