Here's one of those men that Doppler and his ilk would be in awe of - while the
latter can only understand how it happens, this man can make the air around him
compress and rarify exactly the way he wants it to. Sings to his tunes, if you
please.
July has SICA bringing to the city Kovai Ganesh, a master of that splendid wind instrument, the santoor. A disciple of Sri Singanallur Radhakrishnan, Kovai Ganesh has been giving santoor recitals in the Carnatic style since 1991. He is already over 500 concerts old, with performances in India, Singapore and other places. He has given recitals in almost all the sabhas of Chennai, and also during the recent December festival there, where he was appreciated by every renowned artiste present.
SICA is presenting this artiste for the first time to the twin cities. Kovai Ganesh will enthrall the audiences today, and will be accompanied by C Satish Kumar on the mridangam and Nemani Somayajulu on the ghatam.
SICA, formed in 1958, is one of the most prestigious bodies of art in the twin
cities. With over 950 members, the association presents classical dance and music
recitals for a ticket buying audience. Please contact Veeraraghavan, Secretary,
