P Gnaneshwara Rao is organising The Mother, stumping portraits in black and white, on the occasion of Mother's Day, at Chitramayee - State Gallery Of Fine Arts. The exhibition was inaugurated by V S Rama Devi, Ex-Governor of Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, on 14th May.
Gnaneshwar Rao pays tribute to the woman or the mother in different ways. He sees the reflection of the mother in various women, be it Mother Teresa, Sarojini Naidu or even Ramyakrishna and Aishwarya Rai. There are some beautiful portraits of a mother breast-feeding her baby, and Gnaneshwar Rao has captured the happy moments of the mother through her facial expressions.
In addition to the black and white portraits, the display also contains 16 very lively color portraits of late astronaut Kalpana Chawla, VHP chief Praveen Togadia, Princess Diana, astronaut Rakesh Sharma, Indira Gandhi and Atal Behari Vajpayee.
Gnaneshwar Rao is a 57-year-old Hyderabad-born artist, who started his career as a photographer. His father late P Veeraiah was a renowned photographer and artist, who was honored the Father Of Photographers In Twin Cities.
After remaining in photography for 15 years, Rao studied painting under the guidance of Late S R Badakere, in Mumbai. He is specialised portrait-painter, and has painted various portraits of individuals and families, like those of Indira Gandhi, N T Rama Rao, Chiranjeevi (family) and his father-in-law Allu Rama Lingaiah, and singer Mukesh.
