Ashoke Mullick's paintings are more than just a painted canvas. They posess a depth and a life that you may have seldom come across elsewhere. Mullick's work always bears a style and a character which stems from a desire to create a certain dimension. One feels in them an almost physical sensation, which is why his works move towards a sculptural framework. Every picture grows out of an organic and vital reaction, and often his portraits of the family have a touch of fantasy and satire.
Kalakriti Art Gallery, which was started in the year 2002 with a idea to promote Art & Culture, is exhibiting his works at their gallery from the 11th to the 15th of August under the 'Artist in Residence programme'. The big plus point is that you can also interact with him here.
Born in 1957 in Calcutta, Mullick is one the finest artists of the country. He graduated first class in Fine Arts from the Govt College of Arts & Crafts, Calcutta in 1981, and was awarded the cultural scholarship by Department of Culture, Government of India, for 1981-82.
