Drama Sneham By Kovai K R S Troupe: Events in Hyderabad

REVIEW FOR DRAMA SNEHAM BY KOVAI...

Kalasagaram is organising its 41st Annual Cultural Festival of Music, Dance & Drama. The festival starts from 22nd Nov '08 and ends on 30th Nov '08.

On penultimate day of the festival, i.e. on 29th Nov '08, a social comedy drama 'Sneham', will be staged. This drama was written and directed by Nataka Ratna Kalaimamani Kovai K R S Krishnan, and the dialogues are by Chakravarthy Srinivasan. The drama will be staged by artists of the K R S Troupe.

Kovai K R S Troupe is one of the oldest drama troupes in South India and has completed 41 years of service to the cause of drama. So far, they have staged 54 dramas, for more than 3,000 times. One of the plays 'Porami' was staged for more than 250 times and was made into a 1 hour tele-film and telecast on DD in the 90s. Four of their recent plays have also been adapted to tele-films and telecast on DD, Podigai and Vijay Channels. A few of their dramas were also broadcast on the AIR.

The leader of the troupe, K R S Krishnan, was awarded the 'Kalaimamani' title by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu in 2003. The troupe has successfully staged its dramas at Delhi, Nagpur, Bhopal and Kolkata between 2005-2007, and this is their 1st performance in the twin cities.

Entry is by tickets, which can be booked in advance. Season passes for the 9-day festival are available for Rs. 400, Rs. 300 & Rs. 200, and daily passes are priced at Rs. 100, Rs. 50 & Rs. 25. Tickets are available at Keyes High School, everyday, from 5:30pm.
