St. Mary's College is organising Prerna, its inter-college cultural fest, on 28th & 29th Nov '08. The event will commence at 9am.

This year, Prerna will also see other events of the college, including the CEM (Commerce Educational Meet) and Hour Glass. Guests include Kavya Bali, South Femina Miss India '07, and Sahil Gulati, fashion designer, who will inaugurate the event on 28th. The other guests who will be present on both days are B Arogya Reddy, Chairman of St. Mary's College; Mary Reddy, Correspondent of the college; and Mahinder Reddy, Director of the college. The prizes will be distributed by the above guests and by Dr. T Rabbiputhiran, Principal.

28th Nov

1. Extempore
Venue: Room No.301
Timings: 10:30am to 11:30am
Details: Participants must speak on a topic given on the spot, for 3 minutes.

2. What's The Good Word?
Venue: Room No. 302
Timings: 12pm to 1pm
Details: Participants get a maximum of 1 minute to guess the word. It is a team event, with 3 members per team.

3. Poetry
Venue: Room No.. 301
Timings: 2pm to 3pm
Details: Writing poems creatively, with rhyming words and grammatically correct English. Maximum time given is 15 minutes.

4. Swalikhit Kavitha paat
Venue: Room No. 401
Timings: 1pm to 2pm
Details: Participants must recite self-written poems, with a time limit of 5 minutes.

5. Hansee Ke Phawware
Venue: Room No. 401
Timings: 2:30pm to 3:30pm
Details: A Hindi joke contest, offensive or abusive language is prohibited. A maximum of 5 minutes is given to each participant.

6. Poem Recitation
Venue: Room No. 402
Timings: 1pm to 2pm
Details: Participants recite poems in French, and the time limit is 4 minutes.

7. Games
Venue: Room No. 402
Timings: 2:30pm to 3:30pm
Details: Games related to French vocabulary are played.

8. Shloka Patanam
Venue: Room No. 403
Timings: 1pm to 2pm
Details: Participants must recite as many Sanskrit verses as possible. The time limit given is 3 minutes.

9. Quiz
Venue: Room No. 403
Timings: 2:30pm to 3:30pm
Details: Every team should comprise of 3 members, and questions from the syllabus of Intermediate and Degree will be asked.

10. Elocution
Venue: Room No. 405
Timings: 3pm to 4pm
Details: Participants have to speak on the following topic for 5 minutes.
Topic: True Face Of Islam

11. Qira'at - Recitation Of Holy Verses Of Quran
Venue: Room No. 403
Timings: 2:30pm to 3:30pm
Details: Each participant gets 2 minutes, and a maximum of 2 participants are allowed per college.

12. Recitation Of Naat-E-Shareef
Venue: Room No. 405
Timings: 2pm to 2:30pm
Details: Each participant gets 3 minutes, and a maximum of 2 participants are allowed per college.

13. Science Exhibition (Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Bio-chemistry and Bio-technology)
Venue: Physics & Chemistry Labs
Timings: 9am to 4pm
Details: An exhibit of working models, an experiment, a poster, or any other exhibit of students choice. Topics must be related to physics, chemistry, zoology, bio-chemistry or bio-technology. A team should comprise of 2-3 participants, and registration must be done on or before 27th Nov.

14. Power Point Presentation
Details: Each team must give a presentation on the given topics, within the given time limit. The maximum time is 3 minutes, and a minute extra will be given for concluding.

Venue: Room No. 202
Timings: 10:30am to 1pm
Time Limit: 3 mins
Topics: Nano Chemistry, Polymers, AIDS, Renewable Sources Of Energy, and Chandrayaan. (Choose any one)

Zoology
Venue: Room No. 206
Timings: 2pm to 5pm
Time Limit: 5 mins
Topics: Our Role In Bio-diversity Conservation

Bio-Chemistry
Venue: Room No. 202
Timings: 2pm to 5pm
Time Limit: 10 mins
Topics: Molecular Bio-chemistry, Clinical Bio-chemistry And Protein Assay

Bio-Technology
Venue: Rooom No. 203
Timings: 2pm to 5pm
Time Limit: 3 mins
Topics: Cancer Biology, Clinical Bio-technology, Nano Technology And Application Of Bio-technology In Various Fields.

Maths & Statistics
Venue: Room No. 203
Timings: 11am to 1pm
Time Limit: 5 mins
Topics: Current Trends In Statistics, Application Of Statistics In Market Research, Application Of Statistics In Bio-informatics, Application Of Statistics In Software, Application Of Statistics In Agriculture, and Statistical Quality Control.

15. Documentary:
Venue: Theatrix
Timings: 10:30am to 12:30pm
Details: A documentary can be made by an individual or a team, on the topic of their choice. The documentary must not exceed 10 min. It should be the original work of the participants and must not have been copied from anywhere or screened anywhere else, or should not have won a prize in any other competition.

16.Photography:
Venue: Mass Com Lab
Timings: 1:30pm to 2pm
Details: Participants must submit a photograph of size minimum 6"X3" in black & white or colour. It should be the original work of the participants and must not have been copied from anywhere or screened anywhere else or should not have won a prize in any other competition.

17. Code Debugging
Venue: Computers Lab I
Timings: 10:30am to 11:30am
Details: Each team should comprise of 2 members, proficient at C and C++ programming, and is required to identify the error without compiling the code, within 20 mins.

18. PC Assembling
Venue: Room No. 305
Timings: 1pm to 3pm
Details: Each team should have 2 members with basic knowledge of PC assembling, and will have to assemble the given hardware parts, within 45 mins. The preliminary exam has a time limit of 15 mins.

19. Mathematics Quiz:
Venue: Room No.205
Timings: 1:30pm to 3:30pm
Details: Each team should have 2 members, and a preliminary examination will be conducted, through which 8 teams will be selected for the final. The quiz will be on general maths.

20. Elocution:
Venue: Room No. 303
Timings: 10:30am to 11:30am
Details: The participants have to speak on a topic given on the spot, for 3 mins.

21. Debate:
Venue: Room No. 303
Timings: 12pm to 12:30pm
Details: Each team should have 2 members. Topic will be given an hour in advance. The first 10 teams to register are eligible, and each team gets 8 mins.

22.Slogan Writing:
Venue: Room No. 303
Timings: 1:30pm to 2pm
Time Limit: 10 mins
Details: Participants have to compose a slogan on the spot, on the given topic, within 10 mins.

23.Volitions
Venue: Room No. 206
Timings: 10:30am to 11:30am
Time Limit: 5 mins
Details: Each team should comprise of 2 members, who will give their presentations on any one of the given topics. Participants must come with the soft copy of the presentation, for the qualifying round on Nov 26th & 27th at 2:15.
Topics: The Impact Of Recession In The Stock Market On Common Man / Mobile Banking - A Boon Or A Bane.

24.Big Boss
Venue: Room No. 407
Timings: 11:45am to 12:45pm
Details: Each team must have 2 members. After a 15-minute written test, 8 teams will be selected for the final round. Teams will make an oral presentation for a given situation, and must be able to justify judges' queries.

25.Ad-Venture:
Venue: Theatrix
Timings: 2pm to 3pm
Details: An advertising game related to products, prices, brands and bidding. After a written test, 8 teams will be chosen for the final round.

29th Nov

Dance
Venue: Main Stage
Timings: 11am onwards
Time Limit: 4 mins

Solo dance theme:
Boys - Amitabh or Hrithik or Chiranjeevi style
Girls - Madhuri Dixit or Aishwarya Rai or Kareena Kapoor style

Group Dance Theme:
Jugalbandi - Retro and modern

Rules:
The music must have been recorded on CD.

Singing:
Venue: Theatrix
Timings:11 am onwards
Time Limit: 3mins

The fashion show on 28th, and the DJ on 29th, will be special attractions of the event.

Students must carry ID cards, and participation in all events is free. Interested students must report at the venue at 9am.
