A close-to-home cine award function. Only, it isn't as big as the ones we are used to, and is for a much nobler cause. Which is why this ought to be valued at par with, if not more than, the Filmfares and the Screens of Bollywood.
Laya Tarangani, founded in the year 1976 by Bhavani Vijay Kumar, has been instrumental in identifying budding artists and encouraging them. This is the 24th year of its existence and it is felicitating K Vijay Bhaskar, film director, and Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, co-producer, who shot to fame by hard work, and also the 'Nuvve Kavali' movie key unit members.
Every year in the first or second week of February, the felicitation to outstanding personalities in the field of art, cinema and music is organized. Last year, Srihari was felicitated for his dynamic performance in a movie "Ganapathi", and in the year before that, Prakash Raj was felicitated for his outstanding performance in "Antahpuram".
The chief guest for the function will be Dr D Rama Naidu, the noted film producer, and the presentation of the mementos will be through the hands of C Balasubramanyam, the MD of Western Industries. A singing performance by an upcoming artist, Shilpa Deepika, will follow the felicitation function.
