22 years ago, P R Subba Rao started a private tuition institute called Sai Niketan to earn his daily bread - and that of a wife, 2 sons and 2 daughters-in-law. He had 3 students. Today, the institution has 300+, but Subba Rao is none too happy for it. And when you hear the reasons, you wonder if he got caught in a time warp, since you'd assumed that they'd stopped making people like that anymore.
He might not agree completely with Meatloaf that schools are a pack of useless lies, but his disillusionment is just about as vitriolic. The students come to be spoon-fed, not to complement what they've been taught in school, and the parents think that they've bought results with their money. And his belief that studies should not be sold makes him wish to shut this down, not grow it. See, we told you they don't come like that anymore.
This is the annual day of the institution. And guess who's chairing this? No, not Peddi Reddy or Chandrasekhar or any other honorable ministers. This man believes in getting the parents of his best performing students to be the chief guests for his school functions. The evening will have awards to high performing students, as also some cultural activities by children.
Please contact Subba Rao at 707-5225 for further details.
