The South-Indian Cultural Association (SICA), in association with the Tirumala Tirupati Devastanams (TTD) and the Department Of Culture, Government Of Andhra Pradesh, is organising the 600th jayanti celebrations of Saint Annamacharya, from 25th to 27th June, at the Ravindra Bharathi auditorium. The 3-day celebrations will feature some renowned music and dance artistes including Sweta Prasad, the Malladi Brothers, Dr. Anupama Kailash & Group, Garimella Balakrishna Prasad, Venu Madhav and the Priya Sisters.
The second recital of the inaugural day will be by the Malladi Brothers, who will deliver a Carnatic vocal duet, from 7pm to 9:45pm. The Malladi Brothers, Sriram Prasad and Ravi Kumar, hail from a family of musicians. Their father Malladi Suri Babu is a distinguished vocalist and staff artiste of AIR, Vijayawada. The brothers had their initial training from their father, and thereafter fine-tuned their skills from Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr. Nedunuri Krishnamoorthy and Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr. Sripada Pinakapani.
The brothers have established themselves as one of the leading pairs of vocal musicians, and are indeed a pride for Andhra Pradesh. Endowed with rich and vibrant voices, they combine extremely well and sing with great verve and coordination, steeped in bhakti and bhaava, and adhering to pure classicism. They have given performances in various towns across the country and the world.
