Shilparamam is organising an evening of Carnatic vocal recital by Pudi Venkat Rao, as part of its weekly program of music, on 30th September. Venkat Rao will be starting with the usual Vatapi Ganapathim in Hamsadhwani raaga, followed by Nagumomu in Abheri raaga, Brochevarevaru Ra in Khamas raaga and a couple of Annamacharya sankeerthanas and Sadashiva Brahmendra keertanas. He will be accompanied on the violin by K Anil Kumar and on the mridangam by Om Prakash.
Venkat Rao is a lecturer in music at the Sri Thyagaraya Government College Of Music. He is a B A in Carnatic Music from the Osmania University, and a B-grade artiste of the All-India Radio. He is the son of P Sanyasi Naidu, a well-known mythological play artiste.
Rao received training in Carnatic music from the Late Susarla Sivaram. He was awarded the 1st prize in the All-India Music Competitions in Visakhapatnam. He has given a number of concerts in Hyderabad, Delhi, Chennai and Srisailam, and also in USA and Africa under ICCR. He has been felicitated on numerous occasions by various cultural associations.
