This Sunday, Shilparamam is presenting a Kuchipudi dance recital by the disciples of Padma Kalyani, namely Deeksha, Sridevi, Soumya, Nikhita, Sumanjali, Mounika, Tanusha and Srilakshmi.
The recital starts with a Vandemataram, followed by a Narayana Teertha's Tarangam - Krishnam Kalayasakhi Sundaram, Annamacharya's Chakkani Talliki Changubhala, Sri Thyagaraja's Bala Kanakamaya Chela, and a Ramayana Shabdam. The orchestra will be provided by Padma Kalyani with the nattuvangam, Padmapriya and Kalyani Sarma with the vocals, P R C Sarma on the mridangam and Kranthi Kiran on the violin.
All the dancers are disciples of Padma Kalyani, the founder of Anasuya Arts Academy, which was established in 1983, and has three branches in Yapral, Safilguda and Saket (ECIL). Padma Kalyani is a disciple of Vedantam Sambaiah, Pasumarti Ramalinga Sastry and Vempati Chinna Satyam. She has about 200 dancers training under her, and many of her earlier students have established dance institutes around the country and the globe, such as Jyothi Reddy in Singapore, Lavanya in Florida, Subhashini and Swapna in California, Kiran Krishna in Delhi and Jyothi Shekhar in Dilsukhnagar.
The students of the institute have performed in almost all the renowned temples of Andhra Pradesh, and at Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. Padma Kalyani is also a good choreographer, having choreographed all the dance ballets of the institute. On 19th October, the institute will be performing a dance ballet called Lalitha Sahasranamam, at the Naag Mandir in Lal Bazaar, in which 100 dancers will be participating.
