Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram, in association with Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, is organising a Carnatic vocal concert by Dr. N Ranganathan Iyer, on 16th September, at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally. Dr. Ranganathan will be accompanied by N C Ananthakrishna on the violin and Burra Sriram on the mridangam.
Dr. Ranganathan is a senior consultant for Clinical Micro Biology And Infectious Diseases at Global Hospitals, Hyderabad. He trained under T S Kaveri, the grand-daughter of Late Palghat Anantharama Bhagavathar, for over 15 years. He has special proficiency in the Vilamba Kala Kritis of Muthuswamy Dikshithar. He also possesses a good background in compositions of Swati Tirunal, including the Navratri compositions.
He has performed at some of the prestigious sabhas of Mumbai, such as the Asthika Samaj, the Hari Hara Putra Samaj, the Ahobil Math, the Subrahmanya Samaj Annual Festival, the Thyagaraja Aradhanas and the Nada Brahmam, for over 5 years. He was also part of the Shyama Sastry Day celebrations conducted by Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts, Mumbai. He has also won prizes and awards from Kalasagaram at Hyderabad, Swati Tirunal Kalakshetra, Bharatiya Music Fine Arts and Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts at Mumbai, Ragam Tanam Pallavi, and Swaram by the India Cultural League.
