The A M S Foundation is organizing a 2-day music workshop on Carnatic music by Akella Mallikarjuna Sharma, at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, on 11th and 12th May. Mallikarjuna Sharma will explain the significance of certain rare ragas of Carnatic music which are hardly used nowadays in music concerts, and give some precious tips to students in raaga alapana and swara kalpana.
Akella Mallikarjuna Sarma is a disciple of "Brahmasri" Pullela Peri Somayajulu for the violin, and of Sangeeta Kalanidhi Dr. Nedunuri Krishna Murthy for vocals. He is a senior violin artiste who's mastered the M S Gopalakrishnan style. He has also composed a number of varnams, krithis, javalis and tillanas, besides music for Annamayya keertanas.
The A M S Foundation was founded in 2008 by Akella Mallkarjuna Sarma. Normally a resident of Hyderabad, he conducts workshops and teaches his art at various music colleges in India, and also to whoever desires to learn it, free of cost. He is one of the most respected and renowned gurus for countless artistes, young and old. Many of his students have won many prizes at national-level music competitions.
