The Vice President of India, T Krishna Kant, will release a book titled The Saga Of Hyderabad Struggle In India's Freedom Movement today.
The book was jointly written by noted academician C Sudarshan and veteran journalist V H Desai for the Swami Ramananda Tirtha Research Institute of Socio-Economic Research and National Integration.
The book contains the story of the struggle for the merger of Hyderabad State into the Indian Union in 1947-48 under the leadership of Swami Ramanda Thirtha. The book also portrays the feudal system prevailing in the State of Hyderabad before independence.
Former Prime Minister and current Chairman of the Swami Ramanda Tirtha Trust, P V Narasimha Rao, will preside over the function. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna will be among the other guests who will attend the function.
