For several people, Shilparamam is the place to be on Sunday nights. We can say that again.
Shilparamam, as part of its weekly program of classical dance, is presenting Andhra Natyam and folk dance recitals by students of Sri Nataraja Ramakrishna College of Music and Dance, this Sunday.
Hemasvi Reddy, Niharika, Sagarika, Manasa, Lahari, Lakshmi, Sudhakar, Vinod Kumar, Dilip and Shankar, will perform Pushpanjali, Vinayaka Koutam, Shiva Kaivaram, Dashavatara, Javali - Madhura Nagarilo, Rara Maa Intiki Krishnayya, Muddugare Yashoda and Adigo Alladivo Sri Hari, in Andhra Natyam, and a 15-minute Mela Prapti in Perini Shiva Thandavam.
In folk dances, Ghallu Ghallu Gajjala Sringaram, Konda Kona Tirigeti Mamayya, Chumbariyo, Maharaja Rajasri, Lalaguda Lambadi Pilla, Thayyam Dhattayam and Kolatam will be performed.
The accompanying artistes for the above recital are Kalluri Venkateshwarlu with the nattuvangam, Balaram on the mridangam, Venkat Rao with the lead vocals for Andhra Natyam, Venkat Group for the folk vocals, and Laxminarayana on the keyboard.
Sri Nataraja Ramakrishna College Of Music And Dance was started by Kalluri Venkateshwarlu, at Nakrekal near Suryapet, in 1995. Kalluri is a disciple of the well-known classical dancer Nataraja Ramakrishna. He teaches Andhra Natyam and folk dances to about 40 young students.
