Ananda Shankar Jayant is a renowned dancer, choreographer and teacher, with many trail-blazing productions such as Krishnam Vande Jagadguram, Buddham Saranam Gachchami, Jonathan Livingston Seagull and What About Me? to her credit. As director of Shankarananda Kalakshetra, she has been honing young talent to perfection in Bharatanatyam over the last 2 decades, and has 19 arangetrams to her credit.
The Shankarananda Kalakshetra ensemble is widely reputed for exacting standards, discipline and symmetry. The group choreographies are marked by intricate, complicated footwork and the finer nuances of abhinaya, all contributing to visuals of aesthetic brilliance.
This evening, the group, comprising M Mamatha, G Srivalli, Manjula Dorairaj, Aarati Ballepu, O S Divya, Lalita Padmini, Purnima Kumar, Soumya Mohan, Krithika, Maithreyi and Swetha, will present a grand Bharatanatyam recital. Dr S Chakravarthy, IAS, will preside over the function.
