On the occasion of the completion of 60 years of the Ghantasala - Akkineni Nageshwara Rao cine relationship, Aalapana is organising a 12-hour non-stop musical nite of this alliance called Akkineni-Ghantasala Swara Mythri Sashthipoorthi, on 12th February, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. Starting from 8:30am, 40 evergreen classic hits numbers from Akkineni's movies and sung by late Ghantasala will be rendered by 20 professional and amateur singers of the twin cities.
Sharada Reddy, Sunitha Balaji, T V Jayalakshmi, Kamala Sastry, Sharada Sai, Chandrateja, P V Ramana, Bala Kameshwara Rao, Y R Sastry, Amalapuram Kanna Rao, Rajendra Prasad, Archana Venkateshwara Rao, Muralidhar, Sharat Babu, Sashidhar, G V Ramana and A V Ramana Rao are the singers participating in this marathon musical nite.
Get prepared to listen to some of the golden melodies such as Naa Hrudayamulo Nidurinche Cheli from Aradhana, Rajashekara Neepai Moju Teeraledhura and Kalise Nelaraju from Anarkali, Joruga Husharuga Shikaaru Podhama from Baarya Bhartalu, Palleku Podham, Kudi Edamaite and Jagame Maya from Devadasu.
The orchestra for the musical nite is by Brahmanandam, Srikanth and Rajeshwara Rao on the keyboards, Dattatreya on the flute, Kota Acchibabu on the clarinet, Ramu and Nagaraju on the tabla and Phanibhushan on the rhythms. A galaxy of invitee guests are expected to descend on the venue, prominent among them being Dadasaheb Phalke and Padmabhushan awardee Dr. Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, Gnanpeeth and Padmabhushan Dr. C Narayana Reddy, Padmabhushan Dr. P Susheela, Dr. Shobha Naidu, wife of late Ghantasala Savithramma, and first Tollywood playback singer Rao Bala Saraswati Devi.
Aalapana was started five years ago by Sharada Reddy and Amalapuram Kanna Rao, both professional singers. Formed with the aim of promoting light music, the organisation conducts musical nites all over the state.
