With Sania Mirza playing in town this week, here is a tournament that will be relegated to the sidelines. And somehow, Sania seems to feature in an article about anything to do with tennis these days.
The All-India Tennis Association is conducting an Under-14 Tennis Tournament for both boys and girls, at the Administrative Staff College of India courts, from 20th November to 25th November. A total of 32 players in the singles and 32 players (16 pairs) in doubles will be competing for valuable points to improve their rankings. Thakker Rakshay is the top seed in the boys' section, while Thombare Prarthana leads the girls' seeding. Of the 32 players, 20 gained entry on the basis of their rankings, while 12 got in through qualifying matches held on the 18th and the 19th of November.
All the matches will be played on the 4 clay court surfaces at the ASCI campus on Road No. 3, Banjara Hills.
AITA manages and controls the tennis sport in India, training upcoming players to compete at the international level by organising various tournaments in different age categories, and in different cities of India. Prizes are given to the winners, along with a chance to compete in International Tennis Federation (ITF) satellite tournaments held in India and other countries.
Please contact Sanjay, the Tournament Secretary at 93910-20583 for further details.
