On the occasion of its 6th anniversary, G V R Cultural Foundation is giving away a couple of awards on 2nd April, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. The evening starts with cine film songs by Ravuri Madhavi, and will be followed by the awards ceremony.
The Kala Kaushala Rangasthala Puraskaram will be conferred upon Duggirala Someshwara Rao, theater actor, director and writer. He is one of the members of Rasaranjani, the name synonymous with Hyderabad Telugu theater. He has acted and directed several plays.
The Yarlagadda Guruprasad MBA Memorial Award goes to Sneha, a 1st year MBA student from Rishi U B R PG College For Women, Kukatpally. A cash award of Rs. 1,116 will be given to M V S P S Siva Prasad, sports incharge, TV9. Sowmya Rai, T V actor, and T Pratyusha, radio jockey, will be felicitated by the chief guest C S Gopinath Reddy, IPS, Addl. Director General of Police and Director of A P Police Academy.
The other guests for the evening are writers Dr. Dwana Sastry, Pulavarthy Krishna Murthy and P V Subba Rao, social worker V Sailaja, and theater personality Lanka Laxminarayana.
The G V R Cultural Foundation was established in 2002, by G Venkat Reddy, the founder president of Aradhana. Venkat Reddy has lent immense service to social causes, and was recently felicitated by a group of twin cities cultural organisations for completing 50 years of service. The foundation sponsors tbe education of poor students and offers scholarships, besides giving awards and conducting felicitations and cultural programs.
