Sveccha, a non-profit voluntary organisation, is organising the All-India Rock Competitions on 8th March, at the Durgam Cheruvu resort. Called Rock Rhythmz, this rock-for-a-cause fund-raising event aims to mobilise funds for Sveccha's ongoing projects.
Rock Rhythmz is a national-level rock band competition which will feature rock bands from the IT, non-IT and freelancer communities, as also university and college bands, from all over India. The competition attracts prize money worth Rs. 50,000. There will be a special performance by Parikrama, with the opening act by Panatella, the winners of last year's edition.
Parikrama is a rock-and-roll band formed during 1991, and has more than 230 concerts and 1,000+ performances to its name, which have been held all over India in more than 40 cities. Panatella is a 5 year old Funk 'n' Roll band based in Chennai. The members are Krishna Marimuthu on the drums and writing the songs, Akshay Chakapani on the guitars (acoustic, electric and nylon), Krishna Kumar on the keyboards and organs, and Sundar Vishwanathan on the bass and vocals. Their songs like Bend Over, Cable Guy, Groove Train and 205 are popular amongst their fans.
Svechha is a non-profit organization initiated to enable people and organizations in need achieve financial freedom. The aim is to increase social awareness and raise funds to support causes like children's education, support for senior citizens, women's reforms, healthcare for everyone and village development, and to increase awareness on civic responsibilities.
