Raavi Gouri Nageshwari Devi was born in a rich family, as her father Late Raavi Ramamurthy Panthulu was a zamindar. But she had to spend 18 years of her childhood and youth in exile in forests, as the Britishers forcefully took all their property and banished them into the forests. She lost her father too when she was quite young. She came to the city after the country attained independence, in 1950.
After returning from exile, she decided to devote her life to writing books. She went to Vizianagaram, Rajahmundry and Vijayawada, where she studied PUC (Intermediate) and graduation. She's now about 82 years in age and single. She has written a number of books, many of which could not be published due to lack of money.
