Chaitanya Art Theatres, in collaboration with Sruthilaya Kendra and the Australian Art Orchestra, is organising a unique fusion music and dance concert on 28th May at the Lalitha Kala Thoranam in Public Gardens. The concert will witness a fusion of Carnatic music and jazz, titled Oceanic Dream, an extension of the Into The Fire series performed during January 2007 at the same venue.
The concert will feature 7 Australian artistes from the Australian Art Orchestra, including specialists like Sandy Evans on the saxophone, Adrian Sherif on the trombone, Alister Spence on the keyboards synthesizer, Scot Tinkler on the trumpet, Philip Rex on the double bass, Lachlan on the clarionet and Niko Schaube on the drums, and four Carnatic musicians from Sruthilaya Kendra, Guru Karaikudi R Mani on the mridangam and konnakol, V Suresh on the ghatam, Bala Sai on the flute, and U P Raju on the mandolin. Rajeshwari Sainath's flawless nritta will enhance the ensemble.
Into The Fire marks the grand completion of a 10-year partnership between Sruthilaya Kendra and the Australian Art Orchestra. To commemorate this, a CD was released on 26th January, 2007, at Mumbai. This concert has travelled to various national and international music festivals, receiving rave reviews at several venues such as the Melbourne International Festival, the South American Festival and the Sydney Opera House.
Sruthi Laya Kendra is a performing arts institute established by the legendary percussionist Guru Karaikudi R Mani, dedicated exclusively to the cause of music and musicians, and is the first of its kind to be run by a percussionist. It now has sub-centers all across the globe - in 4 cities in India (Chennai, Mysore, Chalakudi and Hyderabad), and in Australia, UK and Germany.
The Australian Art Orchestra, under the able guidance of Paul Grabowsky, has redefined the contemporary music scene in Australia. Its repertoire extends from the totally noted to totally improvised music. It is based in Melbourne, and has travelled across the world, performing to big crowds.
Entry to the concert is by free invitations only, available at Exotic Events office in Saifabad. Please contact K K Raja of Chaitanya Art Theatres at 98852-81545/2321-5555/2321-5566 for invitations and further details.
