It all depends on whether you remember her for Madhumati, where she sounded like Vyjayanthimala, or for Dil To Pagal Hai, where she sounded like an aging herself. Tonite, the effort is to just remember her.
Madhu Music Academy is organising a musical nite of Lata Mangeshkar songs tonite at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini-hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, Chikkadpally. 24 rare songs of Lata will be sung by amatuer singers (mostly housewives) such as Kamalamma, Kamala Sastry, Ramaa Ashok Kumar, Udayalakshmi, Monon Mani and Savita Reddy.
Madhu Music Academy was established in 1996 and was inaugurated by Enamala Ramakrishna, the then Finance Minister of AP, at Ravindra Bharati. The Academy mostly conducts musical nites on Hindi songs, and has organised more than 50 musical nites on Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh, Jikki and Ghantasala.
