On the occasion of the All-India Crafts Mela from 15th to 31st December, Shilparamam is presenting a Kuchipudi dance recital by Achutha Manasa on 17th December. Manasa, a student of 3rd year B Tech in Computer Science, will start with a Sabha Vandanam / Guru Vandanam, followed by Annamayya's Muddugare Yashoda in Kuranji ragam, Siddendra Yogi's Bhama Kalapam in Bhairavi ragam, Annamayya's Navarasamula Nalinakshi in Navaragamalika ragam and Narayana Teertha's Krishnam Kalaya Sakhi in Mukhari ragam.
The nattuvangam and vocal for the recital will be provided by Khaja Venkata Subrahmanyam and Dayanand respectively, and S Nageswar Rao on the mridangam and Pavan Singh on the violin complete the rest of the orchestra.
Manasa is a disciple of Khaja Venkata Subrahmanyam in Kuchipudi and Devi Ramani in Carnatic vocal, having learnt Bharatanatyam from Devendra Pillai in Tirupati and Carnatic vocal from Balasundari, Sagi Venkateshwara Rao and M S Balasubramanyam. She is the daughter of Ravichandra, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Railways. She has about 300 performances, at Guntur, Ongole, Pondicherry, Tirupathi, Bangalore and Hyderabad. She is a recipient of the CCRT scholarship since 1999.
Manasa has been conferred upon the titles of Natyamayuri by Kalanilayam of Chilakaluripet and Polapala Mallikarjuna Memorial Fine Arts of Ongole, and has won the first prize in various inter-school competitions. She has participated in various dance ballets of her institution.
