Since this day this age interviewers are interested in very specific skills, most
of which seldom have anything to do with the arts, courses have also gotten pretty
specific. In this scenario, it is quite interesting to see what is essentially
a degree college set up a classical music and dance school.
The Badruka Group is starting the Bansilal Badruka School Of Music And Dance, and for the inauguration, the management of the Group is organizing a sitar recital by Basheer Ahmed Khan and a Kathak solo by Sanjay Kumar. Each event will be of 45 minutes' duration.
Basheer Ahmed Khan is a versatile sitar player with vast experience. He also teaches and gives performances on request.
Sanjay Kumar is a dancer with in-depth knowledge of Kathak and other dance forms as well. He trained under renowned gurus like Rohini Bhate (Pune), Dr Puru Daheech (Indore), Vedantam Ramalinga Sastry (in Kuchipudi), Samrajyam Laxmi Ramana Rao (in Bharatanatyam), the late Protima Bedi (at Nrityagram, Bangalore) and Padmasri Kumudini Lakhia (Ahmedabad). He has about 20 years of experience in Kathak. He also has a PG Diploma In Theater Arts, and is currently undergoing training in Vilasini Natyam under Swapna Sundari, Delhi.
