Shilparamam, as part of the ongoing All-India Crafts Mela, is organising a jugalbandi of Carnatic and Hindustani music by M V Subrahmanya Prasad and group, on 17th December. The jugalbandi will have M V Subrahmanya Prasad on the mridangam with Naguri Babu on the flute and Sashi Bhushan Rao on the violin, Nanda Kumar on the sitar and Vishnu on the tabla. Together, they will be presenting Mahaganapathim, Samaja Varagamana and about 4 Annamacharya Keerthanas.
This program is being presented by M V Subrahmanya Prasad, who has an M A in music from the Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. Having established Lasyalaya Institute of Music and Dance in Tarnaka about 10 years ago, he teaches mridangam there along with two of his associates, who teach dance and vocals. The institute has about 150 students learning various arts of music. Prasad has performed in most parts of Andhra Pradesh as an accompanying artiste to Carnatic vocalists.
