The Music Lovers Association, in association with Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, is organising a Hindustani vocal recital by the students of Swara Sangam, at the Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, on 11th July. Kiran Debla on the harmonium, Devender on the sitar and P Muralidhar on the tabla, will provide the instrumental support for the recital.
45 students of Swara Sangam, between the ages of 3 and 16, will participate in the recital, and will start with a Saraswati Vandana, followed by some Hindustani classical raagas like the Khamas, Yaman, Bhairav, Bilawal, Bheem Palasi and Poorvi. In between, the group will also sing some bhajans and patriotic songs.
Swara Sangam is a music institute established by a Hindustani vocalist Kiran Debla, at Ameerpet, in September 2005. Here, both young and old students are taught Hindustani vocal by Debla, a disciple of Amita Sharma of the Agra gharana. She also teaches bhajans, light music and Bangla music.
Music Lovers Association was started in the year 2000 by Devender Goud, a sitar player, with the intention of organising classical music programs and bringing together music lovers of the city. The association has been organising classical music programs regularly, every month. Sitar Samaroh, Hindustani Carnatic jugalbandi and Veena Yagnam are some of the music events conducted every year.
