The inter-school science quiz that created a Guinness World Record in 2007 is back. Bigger than ever before, Aqua Regia 2008 was conducted in 37 cities across India, and the Hyderabad leg of the prelims and the all-India finals will be held on 26th November, at the Hari Hara Kala Bhavan. The quiz is organised by the Triumphant Institute Of Management Education (TIME), Hyderabad.
The format of Aqua Regia – The Science Quiz will have five rounds. Stage 1 is the School Level Preliminary Round that is conducted by the TIME team, at the school premises, followed by the City Finals Written Round, in which the top 5 teams from each school will be invited. Top 6 teams, based on their performance in this round, will participate in the city finals' on-stage round. The prizes for the city finals include a cash award of Rs. 25,000. All finalists will be presented with merit certificates which will be sent directly to each school at a later date. There are exclusive prizes for the audience, too, including an Apple iPod.
Stage 4 is the Regional Finals On-Stage. Teams from the 37 cities across India, that have won various city finals, will compete at the regional finals, where Aqua Regia is divided into different regions. Prizes include iPods, mobile phones and watches. All finalists will be presented with merit certificates. As always, there will be exclusive audience questions and audience prizes. Stage 5 is set for the Grand National Finals On-Stage, at which the winners of the 4th Stage will battle it out. The prizes at this level include laptops, desktops, apart from iPods, mobile phones and watches.
The total prize money for the 37 city quizzes is Rs. 12 lakhs, including cash prizes worth upto Rs. 9 lakhs. Registration is free and starts from 1:00pm at the venue. Please contact TIME at 2789-8194 / 2789-8195 for further details.
