The Ranji Trophy Super League Cricket Match between the hosts, Hyderabad, and Rajasthan, will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium from 23rd to 26th November. At the end of the 4-day match, Hyderabad are expected to go for an outright win, as they are playing a team that is languishing at the bottom of the group. Going by the points tally, Hyderabad are well ahead with 7 points, to 1 point accrued by Rajasthan.
Hyderabad are looking strong with the inclusion of V V S Laxman, who's scored important runs in the recently concluded test series against the Aussies. He will captain the side, and Arjun Yadav will be his deputy. Youngsters in the side, including D B Ravi Teja, T Suman and S Anoop Pai, were all among the run-scorers. Arjun Yadav had also returned to form, scoring a much required century against Gujarat in the previous match and saving Hyderabad from an almost certain defeat. On the bowling side, pacers M P Arjun, Shoaib Ahmed, and Ashwin Yadav, and spinner Paramveer Singh, will add strength to the side.
Rajasthan is captained by the ex-Andhra captain and India discard, Y Venugopala Rao. The team hasn't been able to perform well this year. They lost heavily to Mumbai and Punjab in their previous encounters, and drew their match against Orissa. The side relies heavily on the experience of Venugopala Rao and Gagan Khoda. The bowling of Pankaj Singh, Gajendra Gehlot and Sumit Mathur lacks consistency. And so, for beating Hyderabad on their home ground, the team needs to score heavily and grab some quick wickets.
Entry is free. Please contact the Hyderabad Cricket Association at 2790-5676 for further details.
