The kind widow Hobbs is very sad on her birthday as she celebrates with her only companion -Percival, the pig. All she wanted was a child, she explains to a beggar who comes to her house for food. The beggar promptly turns into the Marvellous Magician and gives her a special
seed that blooms into a tiny girl - Thumbelina.
Percival becomes increasingly jealous of Thumbelina and arranges for a bullfrog to kidnap her. Thumbelina befriends many different creatures on her adventurous journey through the swamp until she is finally reunited with the kind widow Hobbs.
