HSBC and Pearl City are presenting Hyderabad's first original musical with an all-Hyderabad cast and crew - The Last Christmas, to be held at the RNR Auditorium at 7pm from the 7th to the 9th December 2012.
The large-scale production, featuring live singing, dancing and acting talents from across the city, is the heart-warming story of Retired Gen. Roy, who has just been advised by his friend Dr. Pinto not to travel. He's angry and upset, and feels useless.
But, thanks to his lifelong friend and neighbor Gladys, he decides to share with the world the best Christmases of his life, through a blog.
As he types, the stage comes alive with his memoirs, taking us through 7 Christmases past.
1961: Christmas in College
1992: The Recession Christmas
1995: When the baby comes home
1958: Christmas in the middle of nowhere
2008: Christmas after the Taj attacks
1970: Christmas in America
1997: Christmas after a Funeral
What are the lessons that Gen. Roy Shares? Why has he called his blog The Last Christmas? Is it really his last? All the answers are on center-stage. With his wife Raveena and closest friends, Pinto and Gladys, Gen. Roy takes us on a musical journey.
This unique musical will have 8 original songs, including an Indian version of the holiday classic titled "Jingle-vingle bells".
The cast and dancers represent a cross-section of Hyderabad - with expats, IT professionals, housewives, students, vice-principals and vice-presidents coming together to bring the stage alive.
The musical is being choreographed by Prithviraj of Steps Dance Studio. Music is being scored by Solomon Gollapalle (who has worked with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy). Acting talent is also provided by the theatre group Sutradhar Actors.
The musical is written and directed by Mark Samuel, Sr. Creative Director of JWT.
The show, hosted at the Pearl City Auditorium, is being produced by 33AD productions. It is being held in support of Read To Lead Libraries, - an initiative that builds libraries for schools that cater to street kids.
The prices are Rs. 800, Rs. 500 & Rs. 200.
