Immersion of idols is prohibited in the H Sagar alrite, but who's gonna stop the champs from zipping across its surface? You have to be fast enough to catch them in the first place! Laser Class Association of India (LCAI) along with the EME Sailing Association and the Secunderabad Club are organizing The Laser National Sailing Championships at the Hussain Sagar Lake from the 6th to the 12th of August.
The races are under the overall supervision of Lt Gen Arvind Mahajan and Asadullah Pasha, President, Secunderabad Club. The meet, featuring 36 races over six days has categories which include laser 4-7 (for children), youth category for laser standard & radial classes, apprentice masters category, masters (45-54 years) and grand masters (55-64 year).
Most of the Secunderabad sailors are to be seen in action including S Anirudh, Dinesh Boorugu, Nagesh Boorugu, G Rohit Mohan, V B Ramesh, Murali Kanuri and Archana Kamlakar. Prizes will be given to the winners of each of these categories. The top prize will be the Lt Cdr Kelly S Rao Trophy, which will go to the sailor who tops the laser standard fleet without discards.
