If you cant play against a Grandmaster, at least you can bring along your Grand Father as compettition. Dronacharya Chess Academy is organising S R Datla Memorial Open Chess Tournament at the Vasavi Club from 26th August to 28th August.
This tournament will be held in the Swiss format and has about 120 participants of various ages participating. There is no age limit or age group for this tournament, which means that a junior participant can take on the senior participant.
The arbitrators of the tournament will decide on the draws and hold all the rights.
The player will be judged on his/her points rather than on the number of wins and losses. Each participant has to play a total of 9 rounds to enter the finals.
The winner gets to pocket Rs. 3,500 in cash, besides the trophy. Cash prizes will be given away to another 14 players based on their highest recorded points in the tourney.
Dronacharya Chess Academy was established two years ago with sole intention of coaching aspiring chess players and organise tournaments for their upliftment. It is affiliated to the All India Chess Federation.
