Here's some good news for bridge enthusiasts in town. Yes, any news is good news for bridge enthusiasts in town!
The Nizam Club is organising the 40th Nizam Club Open Bridge Tournament at the club premises on 9th and 10th June. The events to be held during this tournament are Team Of Four Duplicate (T/4), Master Pairs and Board-A-Match.
The rules are simple, as per those of the Bridge Federation Of India. In Board-A-Match, the scoring system is for team play in which each deal accounts for one point (a team scores 1 point if it gets a higher score, 1/2 point if it gets an equal score, 0 if it gets a lower score). Team Of Four Duplicate is a form of duplicate bridge in which players compete as a unit of four, one playing each of the four compass positions on each deal, while Master Pairs is a duplicate-bridge tournament among partnerships.
This is one of the oldest tournaments in the city, with players from Secunderabad Club, Deccan Club, Fateh Maidan Club and Hyderabad Boats Club, and other non-club teams expected to participate. Cash prizes worth Rs. 25,000 are up for grabs.
