For several people, representing their state in the Ranji Trophy would stay the greatest achievement in their lives. Sathyaprasad Yachendra is not planning to let that happen.
Lakshana Art Gallery is organising Mystique & Majesty, a photography exhibition by Sathyaprasad Yachendra, from 8th to 16th June. The collection of 40 photographs clicked by Sathyaprasad in the beautiful scenic locales of Western Tibet, Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Sikkim, provides a breath-taking view of the Himalayas, Buddhist monastaries and their culture, and the Lamas.
With global warming, rapid melting of ice on the Himalayas, the fast changing of landscapes and the threat from modernization becoming imperative issues, Yachendra 's exhibition tries to bring an awareness to all that we stand to lose if we do not protect our environment.
Yachendra is a self-taught photographer, who's taken to full-time photography since the last four years. His motivational gurus were his father Madan Gopal and his uncle R N Verma. He has played in the Ranji Trophy Cricket Championships for the Andhra Pradesh team from 1981 to 1986, before taking a leap into the world of photography. He has exhibited his past collections at the Fortune Katriya Hotel, Hyderabad, in 2004 and the P L Deshpande Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2006.
