Saptaswara Cultural Organization is organising the Dakshina Bharatiya Sangeeta Navaratrotsavamulu from 2nd to 10th November, at the Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini-hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. The nine-day festival has two music concerts daily, featuring special kritis of the Music Trinity (Thyagaraja, Muthuswamy Dikshitar and Syama Sastry), specially Dikshitar's Navagraha and Navavarna kritis.
On 9th Nov, on the penultimate day of the festival, the vocal recitals will be preceded by speeches, by Dr. Naisadham Prabhakara Rao, P Subba Rayudu and A Agiah Chary. The speakers will discuss the Trinity and their kritis, and reveal some important aspects of their life and their music. These speeches will be followed by the vocal recitals by S Neeta Chandrasekar and K Hima Bindu.
The event is being organised by Saptaswara, a cultural organization founded by K S R Balakrishna Sastry. He is a retired head-master who has also performed as an artiste on radio and TV, from 1952 to 2005. A disciple of Dr. M Balamurali Krishna, he has performed a number of times with him.
