The tingling notes of this instrument are incredibly hard to produce, and don't come out right until the user has hard callouses and black grooves on his fingers to show for it. From George Harrison to Jonny Jakobsen, it has had admirers overseas, while India has produced masters who can only be listened to in humble admiration.

The Sitar Samaroh on the 1st and 2nd of February at the Kala Subbarao Vedika will bring together the entire Sitar playing fraternity of Hyderabad, in all its variegated glory. From students, to lecturers, to concert players of repute. The event is being carried out in association with Thyagaraja Gana Sabha and Music Lovers Association, Hyderabad.
