One of the most important Hungarian films of the 1960s, Andras Kovacs's Cold Days was an extremely courageous theme to be tackled at the time in view of the silence which had, until then, shrouded the Hungarian role in World War II in mystery.
The film is based on the massacre of several thousand Jewish and Serbian people of Novi Sad in 1942. It is structured round the memories and self-justifications of four men involved in the massacre as they awaited trial in 1946. Each, of course, denies his complicity. Many of the images in the film remain unforgettable in the viewer's mind.
This film is being screened by the Hyderabad Film Club. Please contact Prakash Reddy at 373-0841 for further details.
