The best place to sit on Makara Sankrathi evening is ...certainly not in front of a TV. Here is what is happening at one of the city's cultural hubs.
Rasanjali is organising the Sankranthi Sangeetotsavam on 15th January at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally. On this occasion, two classical music programs will be held.
The evening starts with a grand veena recital by M Krishna Kumari, Nandita and Deepthi. The trio have performed together at Doordarshan, and tonite they will be playing some Annamayya and Thyagaraya kritis. Next, Assistant Commercial TAD Officer from Vijayawada, Kasturi Gopala Rao, will be presenting a Carnatic vocal recital of Annamayya, Thyagayya and Ramadas keertanas. He is a disciple of Dr M Bala Muralikrishna, and a graded artiste of All-India Radio.
The chief guest for the evening is Chief Justice L Narasimha Reddy, High Court of Andhra Pradesh. The other guests are Vastushilpi Dr B N Reddy; K Jyothi, Deputy Commissioner of Endowments Department, and Whistle Wizard K Siva Prasad.
